In Southern California, a concerned local reached out to Logan’s Legacy dog rescue after spotting three young puppies abandoned in their neighborhood. Despite not being able to respond immediately, Suzette Hall, who founded Logan’s Legacy, relied on her team of devoted friends to come to the rescue.
When Hall’s team arrived at the scene, they found the puppies just as described—and tightly huddled together on the sidewalk. The loyal siblings seemed hopeful, as if waiting for their family to return. “They just sat on the corner and waited,” Hall shared with The Dodo. Unfortunately, local residents informed the rescuers that the puppies had been left near Magic Johnson Park in Los Angeles before their former family drove away.

Terrified and alone, the puppies had dashed into the park, barely avoiding traffic. “They just ran inside the park and huddled together,” Hall explained. “So many cars almost hit them.” For days, the pups anxiously awaited the return of their family, but no one came back for them. Just when all hope seemed lost, Hall’s rescue team appeared to save the day.
Initially, the puppies were found sitting resolutely on the sidewalk, but as the morning grew hotter, they sought shade while sticking together. “It was hot that day, and there was a car parked in one of the spots,” remarked Hall. “They went under the car, but they stayed all curled up together.”

Typically, Hall’s team employs humane traps to rescue stray dogs, but this time, the siblings needed no such persuasion. “My rescuers put some food in their hands and coaxed them over,” Hall recounted. The puppies, particularly the sole female of the trio, quickly warmed to their rescuers. The team gently lifted her into their van, with her two brothers eagerly following.
Once safely in the van, the rescuers discovered the extent of the puppies’ neglect. “They were covered in ticks,” noted Hall. “They were so matted, and they each had about 40 ticks on them or more.” Despite their discomfort, the puppies were relieved to be together once more. A rescuer brought them home, where the siblings remained closely bonded.

The first step in their care was a thorough grooming session. Shaving off the matted fur and removing the ticks brought immediate comfort to the puppies. Yet, the most soothing part of their day was snuggling together in a warm and safe environment.
Hall observed a unique connection among the siblings. While many stray dogs form bonds as a survival mechanism, these puppies displayed an unmistakable camaraderie. Now named Polly, Damien, and Barkley, the trio is enjoying foster care, recovering from their ordeal. Hall and her team are committed to finding a forever home willing to adopt all three of them together. “It would be amazing if they could all be adopted together,” Hall expressed. “They’re so sweet.”

As they await their ideal family, Polly, Damien, and Barkley remain inseparable. Their journey from the streets has only strengthened their bond, showcasing the resilience of love and loyalty overcoming the most challenging beginnings.
