The day began with the cubs engaging in their usual play, a method they used to refine their hunting abilities. Rana joined them, demonstrating effective techniques for catching prey.

As the sun rose, it became necessary to start the hunt before the heat made it too challenging for tracking and ambushing.
Rana led her cubs into the grasslands, skillfully using the tall vegetation for cover. She spotted a herd of Chital deer in the distance, a promising target.

Chital deer, weighing over a hundred pounds, are a significant catch, with one deer potentially providing several meals. However, their keen senses make them difficult to approach.
To successfully ambush a Chital, the tigers must get within 30 feet of their prey. Unfortunately, one of Rana’s cubs became distracted by a pond frond and began playing with it.
The noise attracted the attention of the deer herd, causing them to detect the approaching predators.

Startled by the commotion, the herd fled at speeds up to 40 miles per hour, escaping before the tigers could make their move. As a result, Rana and her cubs missed out on their meal, leaving them still hungry.
