Kimber and Pennies found themselves alone and homeless on the streets of California after losing their only home. The two dogs roamed through neighborhoods, scavenging for food and looking for a place where they could feel safe.
Their search led them to a pile of discarded furniture where they discovered an old dresser. Seeking refuge, they nestled inside, trying to escape the cold and uncertainty of their situation.
The dogs were overwhelmed by the feeling that nobody would ever come to their rescue.

When local residents noticed the condition of Kimber and Pennies, they decided to take action. “These babies were so matted, so filthy, and one of them… had patches of skin just gone.
No one knew where they came from. No one came looking,” Suzette Hall shared in a Facebook post.
Despite their efforts, the neighbors couldn’t convince the frightened dogs to leave the shelter they had found. Yet, the caring community members ensured they provided the dogs with food and water as they sought further assistance.
Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy 29 in Irvine, California, was contacted due to her expertise in rescuing scared dogs. She promptly responded and set out to help Kimber and Pennies.

Upon Hall’s arrival, the dogs remained frozen in fear. Nevertheless, Hall was persistent in her gentle approach, offering comforting words to assure them they were safe.
Gradually, she coaxed them into a nearby yard where she managed to secure them with leashes and carefully lifted them into her vehicle. As she held them, their eyes brightened with a newfound hope, sensing that their lives were about to improve.
Determined to change their fate, Hall said, “They are not trash. They are worthy. And from this moment forward, their lives will reflect that.”
Kimber and Pennies were then taken to a veterinarian where they underwent comprehensive examinations. They were diagnosed with scabies, a condition that required them to be in isolation during treatment due to its contagious nature.

The separation was difficult for the bonded pair, and their caretakers shared in their sorrow. “They didn’t ask for any of this… They just want to feel safe, loved, and healthy again,” noted Hall.
After several weeks of treatment and care, both dogs made a full recovery. Their reunion was a heartwarming moment, as Kimber and Pennies eagerly ran to each other, tails wagging and nuzzling as if making up for lost time.
Now placed in a nurturing foster home, Kimber and Pennies are ready to embark on their journey to find a permanent family. Those who saved them hope they will be adopted together, ensuring they never have to be apart again.
With any luck, these two resilient dogs will find the loving home they deserve, where they will be cherished every day.
