For years, Polito roamed the streets of San Martin, living a life marked by hardship and rejection. This young dog, approximately two years old, was often turned away by people, as his appearance was marred by small tumors.

Fearful and defensive, Polito often attempted to bite those who approached, not realizing that some of them meant to offer help.

After some initially tense encounters, Polito began to understand that the help he needed had arrived. Calming down, he allowed his rescuers to care for him. He was taken to a hospital, where fear was still evident in his demeanor.

During the examination, his mouth had to be bound with a wire to prevent him from biting—a testament to the mistreatment he had likely endured on the streets.

Diagnosed with transmissible venereal tumors (TVT), Polito needed chemotherapy to address the growths on his body.

His healing journey involved more than just physical recovery. It became vital to mend his trust and heart. When they first brought Polito to Servivet Veterinary Clinic, his distrust of humans was palpable.
