A rescue team from the Kokkachi Shelter recently undertook a challenging mission to save a small puppy found with a wound on his stomach. After receiving a tip-off about the injured animal, volunteers initially visited the location — outside a cave — but were unprepared to safely capture the puppy at that time.
Determined to help, the team returned to the shelter to gather necessary supplies, including cloth, milk, and a bag. When they got back, they discovered the puppy had retreated deep into the cave. To lure him out, they set a bowl of milk outside and patiently waited.

After several hours, the puppy emerged. The rescuers quickly blocked the cave entrance with wooden planks, gently captured the puppy, carefully wrapped him in cloth, and transported him to a veterinary clinic in Calicut for urgent care.
The mission was not without its difficulties. The puppy was wary and kept retreating to the safety of the expansive cave each time the team approached, making the capture effort time-consuming. Unfortunately, due to the holiday, many veterinary clinics were closed. Eventually, they found a compassionate veterinarian, Dr. Shihabudheen, who stepped in to treat the puppy at no cost.

Following his treatment, the puppy was brought back to Kokkachi’s shelter, where he quickly became a beloved member of the community. Full of vitality and blessed with striking eyes, the puppy has made a remarkable recovery, enchanting everyone at the shelter.
Now, enjoying life with his human friends, the puppy is in good health. However, the affectionate little dog is still searching for a permanent, loving home.
