Angelina Jolie, a Hollywood star recently in the spotlight for her advocacy for world peace, is now trending for a different reason—an old, controversial photo has resurfaced online, causing a stir.
The internet, known for dredging up past events, has revived a picture of Jolie kissing her brother, James Haven, sparking widespread debate and backlash.

The incident occurred at the 57th annual Golden Globe Awards, where Jolie won the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Girl, Interrupted. During the event, Jolie, then 24, was photographed kissing her brother on the lips, a moment that quickly became controversial.
That same year, Jolie won an Oscar for her performance in the same film. During her acceptance speech, she expressed her love and gratitude towards her brother, who was present at the ceremony.

She said, “I’m in shock and in love with my brother right now. He just held me and said he loved me, and I know he’s so happy for me.”
The controversy didn’t end there. More photos of the siblings kissing were taken at the Vanity Fair after-party, fueling further speculation and jokes about their relationship.
In early 2000, the jokes turned cruel, with many insinuating an incestuous relationship. Jolie addressed these rumors during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in March 2000.

She challenged Leno to read some of his mocking comments, highlighting the jokes’ hurtful nature. Jolie stated, “I actually didn’t highlight the ones that were so terrible; I didn’t want my mom to hear them again.”
Leno, trying to downplay the situation, compared it to a harmless car accident involving Matthew Perry, but Jolie cut him off, stating, “And incest?” She emphasized her point by saying, “Honestly, if I wanted to kill you, I wouldn’t be here right now. I just needed to say that because I think [the audience] gets it.”
With these pictures resurfacing, Reddit users have reignited the debate. One user asked, “Can somebody explain what’s going on with Angelina Jolie smooching her brother like that?”

Another responded, “No, I don’t think anyone really can explain.” Others speculated it was a stunt for shock value or to reinforce Jolie’s “edgy” public image at the time.
As Reddit buzzes with renewed confusion and speculation, the incident serves as a reminder of the intense scrutiny celebrities face and the lasting impact of their actions.
