At just three weeks old, Button and Truffle were discovered outside, alone and in desperate need of care.
With no mother in sight, the two kittens were bottle-fed by Angela, a compassionate foster volunteer who stepped in to help.
The first days were tough for the twins, who struggled with stomach issues and required extra attention. Angela tirelessly bottle-fed them, even tube-feeding Button when he lost his appetite.
Despite their discomfort, the kittens still purred and meowed, showing their affectionate nature even in their weakened state.
“Even though they weren’t feeling their best, they loved to purr and meow when they saw people,” Angela shared.
After a week of around-the-clock care, the kittens grew stronger, gained weight, and regained their playful spirits.
Angela was relieved when they were finally weaned, allowing her to catch up on some much-needed rest.
As Button and Truffle blossomed into healthy, energetic kittens, their bond with each other grew stronger.
They followed Angela everywhere, and on their first adventure beyond their room, they bravely climbed the stairs.
One of them even turned back to encourage his sibling to join him, a sweet display of their growing connection.
Around this time, Angela learned about a lonely ginger tabby named Abraxos. Orphaned at just three days old, Abraxos had been hand-reared at the Yolo SPCA and craved the companionship of other kittens.
“As he grew, we realized he needed friends his age to teach him how to behave like a cat,” Angela explained.
Knowing the twins were about the same age, Angela decided to introduce them to Abraxos. At first, the ginger tabby was hesitant, unsure of his new companions. “The first night had some hissing and puffed-up tails,” Angela recalled.
However, after a restful night, the tension melted away, and by morning, the three kittens were playing together as if they had known each other forever.
Abraxos quickly warmed up to Button and Truffle, enjoying cuddles and playtime. While Truffle tended to watch from the sidelines, Button eagerly took Abraxos under his wing, showing him the ropes of kittenhood. “They’re around the same size and very playful. Their energy matches perfectly,” Angela said.
One morning, Angela found all three kittens snuggled up together in the smallest box they could find, a heartwarming sight that left her in awe. With the companionship of the twins, Abraxos no longer felt lonely.
The trio, all once orphaned, had found exactly what they needed in each other: love, comfort, and the joy of playing together.
At nap time, the kittens could often be found curled up together, a true reflection of the bond they had formed.
With a second chance at life, these kittens have thrived, with the twins gaining a new brother and Abraxos finding a family who will never leave him alone again.
