The heartwarming scene unfolded at the Shendiaoshan Wildlife Nature Reserve in Weihai, China. The elephant, Shanmai, deftly picked up the small blue and yellow shoe using its large foot and trunk.

Initially mistaking it for food, Shanmai quickly realized its mistake upon closer inspection by a staff member.
