Adine Roode, who runs the HERD (Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development) sanctuary in Africa, dedicates her life to caring for orphaned elephants. Volunteers at HERD work to integrate young elephants into the existing Jabulani herd.

One such elephant, Khanyisa, an albino calf, has been warmly accepted by the herd. The day starts with Adine greeting Khanyisa in her nursery.

Lammie, another resident, roams freely while Khanyisa follows Adine, who offers her some fresh grass.

As Khanyisa enjoys her breakfast, caregiver Herman joins Adine. They discuss how Khanyisa has slept longer lately and express concern about the cycling injuries affecting the herd.

Khanyisa, preoccupied with foraging, is reluctant to meet the rest of the herd immediately. She seems more interested in continuing her grassy meal. Eventually, Adine and Herman leave the nursery, enticing Khanyisa with more grass.

Even outside, Khanyisa focuses on eating grass rather than heading toward the trees or her waiting family.

She takes her time, slowly munching her way towards her herd members, showing no rush to reunite with them.
