Last Update:

Brad Pitt has achieved another victory in the ongoing legal dispute with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie over their French vineyard.

Pitt aims to overturn Jolie’s 2021 sale of her share in the Chateau Miraval winery to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler. The recent win for Pitt came in a French court where he successfully defended documents seized during a raid.

This legal triumph marks the third setback for Shefler, whom Pitt has labeled a “bully,” and Jolie in the so-called “War of the Rosé.” Pitt’s camp expressed confidence, stating that while there’s a long road ahead in the litigation, the current momentum favors Brad.

Last week’s ruling in France was linked to a raid at the winery in March 2022. Following claims of misconduct and misuse of company assets by Shefler, court officers seized documents and IT material.

However, a subsequent court decision reversed the seizure, denying Shefler access to the documents. The court ruled that Shefler’s firm lacked legal standing to demand the documents controlled by SA Chateau Miraval.

Earlier this month, a judge in Los Angeles rejected Jolie’s attempt to dismiss Pitt’s lawsuit against her, allowing the case to proceed to trial. In November, a Luxembourg court temporarily reduced Shefler’s shares, making Pitt the majority shareholder.

Pitt and Jolie purchased the 1,300-acre Miraval estate in 2008 and married there in 2014. However, their marriage ended in divorce in 2016. Jolie’s secretive stake sale to Shefler’s group for $64 million allegedly violated an agreement with Pitt, who was granted 50/50 custody of their children.

Pitt accused Shefler of attempting to “threaten” him with smears in their dispute over Miraval. Legal documents revealed Pitt’s claim that Shefler sought to coerce him into cooperation after acquiring Nouvel, the investment firm through which Jolie sold her stake.

The legal battle continues as Pitt sued Jolie in 2022 over the Nouvel sale, while Nouvel countersued, seeking $350 million in damages. Shefler contends that the court lacks jurisdiction, dismissing Pitt as merely an actor, not a winemaker.

In this high-profile clash, Pitt’s resolve remains steadfast as he navigates the complexities of legal skirmishes and defends his interests in the prized vineyard.
