Scarlett Johansson’s performance in the movie ‘Hitchcock’ took a chilling turn when she faced off with Anthony Hopkins in a recreation of the infamous shower scene from ‘Psycho.’
In the 2012 film ‘Hitchcock,’ Johansson portrayed Janet Leigh, delving into the behind-the-scenes drama while making Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic horror film ‘Psycho.’

One pivotal moment he required Johansson to confront Hopkins, who portrayed Hitchcock, in a scene where he reenacts the tense shower sequence with her. Johansson admitted to feeling genuine fear during the intense encounter.
Despite Hopkins’ friendly demeanor off-camera, Johansson found his portrayal of Hitchcock unnerving. “As much as Anthony Hopkins is a pussycat, he’s terrifying,” she confessed.

Her childhood memories of watching ‘Silence of the Lambs’ may have contributed to her apprehension, making the scene even more challenging.
The production team shared Johansson’s concerns, especially since the scene involved water and the risk of getting the actor wet.
However, Johansson, much like Janet Leigh herself, remained unfazed by such worries, prioritizing the authenticity of the performance.

Interestingly, Johansson’s journey to the role of Janet Leigh was unexpected. During her initial meeting with director Sacha Gervais to discuss the project, Johansson spontaneously auditioned for the role alongside Hopkins.
Gervais recalled how the meeting seamlessly transformed into a rehearsal, showcasing Johansson’s commitment and talent.
After securing the role, Johansson sought the approval of Janet Leigh’s daughter, Jamie Lee Curtis, who graciously supported her portrayal of her mother.

Curtis appreciated Johansson’s dedication to the role, recognizing her sincerity and reverence for the iconic figure.
Johansson’s immersive experience with ‘Hitchcock’ highlights her versatility as an actor and underscores the dedication required to bring historical figures and iconic moments to life on screen.
