Despite the frantic efforts of the driver to evade Nitra’s advance, the elephant managed to smash through the van’s window with her tusk, rummaging inside for food.

Thinking quickly, Kasun tossed his child’s snacks out of the window, diverting the elephant’s attention and allowing them to escape unharmed.

As the van sped away, narrowly avoiding a collision with Nitra, Kasun shared another memorable wildlife encounter during their Sri Lankan adventure.

He recounted an adorable koala sniffing around their feet for food, prompting them to share their son’s uneaten sandwich with the furry creature on the advice of their driver.

Reflecting on the harrowing experience, Kasun acknowledged the role of the snacks in their escape, remarking, “It’s likely that those sandwiches and chips were the reason we made it out alive.”

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred on Monday at Culp Temple Road within Yala National Park.
